You can pick up a four-pack if AirTags for $75 right now, down from their usual $100 price tag. If you just want one of the Bluetooth trackers, you can pick up a single pack for $24 as part of the Prime Day Apple deals. We've been seeing the price of the four-pack fluctuate over the past 48 hours — they've gone up and down from around $88 to $75 for the multi-pack, and in and out of stock. We recommend keeping an eye out on this today if you're keen on snagging a few AirTags for Amazon Prime Day 2024. Apple's AirTags can pair with your iPhone or iPad and appear in the Find My app. The devices are about an inch and a quarter in length and width, with a battery that lasts about a year at a time. The device is also water and dust resistant, so you don't have to worry about it getting too gross if it's on your dog's collar, for instance. Plus, newer iPhone models utilize ultra-wideband technology to give you detailed instructions when locating one. Unfortunately, you'll still need to get a holder if you want to attach an AirTag anywhere, but we have you covered with our guide to the best Apple AirTag accessories for 2024. If you only need one or two AirTags, head over to the sale on individual ones. Right now, you can pick up one AirTag for $24, down from $29 — a 17 percent discount. This deal is also a record-low price, with you technically able to get three for less than the four-pack . Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. 16.07.2024 19:12 We're seeing steep discounts for Amazon Prime Day on the latest Samsung Galaxy smartphones — the regular ones, not the Z Flip or Z Fold that were just announced. You can get a whopping $325 off the Galaxy S24 Ultra right now, which brings the final price down to a record low of $975. Prime Day phone deals have also brought all-time-low prices to the Galaxy S24 and S24+, knocking them down to $600 and $750, respectively. Engadget’s pick for the best premium Android phone, the S24 Ultra has the best display available on a phone today: a 6.8-inch color-rich AMOLED screen with razor-sharp QHD+ resolution. In addition, this year’s model takes a page from Apple’s book by switching from an aluminum to a titanium frame, and its camera has a 5x optical zoom. It even includes an S-Pen for more precise and versatile input. Perhaps more intriguing than traditional phone specs is the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s suite of AI tools. The phone’s Galaxy AI features include proofreading texts, editing images, transcribing recordings and more. The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are also heavily discounted for as part of the Prime Day deals. Although not quite super-premium like the Ultra, these are still flagship-quality phones with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. In addition, they carry over much of what already worked in the S23 series, including similar camera hardware and battery life. The standard S24 models also include Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite. You can run some generative AI tools locally, and there’s an additional option to set them to never leave for phone, which is handy for privacy. Features include live translation for voice calls, a live interpreter for in-person conversations, note assist for summaries and formatting, writing assist from the keyboard and image editing. 16.07.2024 19:12 The UK's antitrust watchdog is once again investigating Microsoft. The Competition and Markets Authority has opened a formal probe over the company's hiring of former Inflection AI staff and its licensing of the startup's tech. The initial phase one investigation will be wrapped up by September 11, at which point the CMA will determine whether to open a more in-depth probe. The agency will try to determine whether Microsoft attempted to avoid antitrust scrutiny by recruiting Inflection's staff and employing its tech but not buying the company outright. It will look at whether the moves "resulted in the creation of a relevant merger situation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002" and if that has, or is likely to have, a negative impact on competition in the UK. "We are confident that the hiring of talent promotes competition and should not be treated as a merger,” Microsoft told Bloomberg in a statement. “We will provide the UK CMA with the information it needs to complete its inquiries expeditiously.” Microsoft's Inflection strategy is also under the spotlight in the US. The Federal Trade Commission is investigating the situation. Microsoft last week gave up its non-voting observer seat on OpenAI's board in what onlookers believed was an attempt to evade further antitrust scrutiny. Microsoft has invested over $10 billion into OpenAI — which has also drawn the attention of the FTC and CMA. Meanwhile, the CMA and Microsoft are familiar foes. The antitrust agency heavily scrutinized Microsoft's $69 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard. The probe was the final hurdle the companies had to overcome before closing the deal. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/uk-antitrust-officials-join-ftc-in-investigating-microsofts-hiring-of-inflection-ai-staff-143243701.html?src=rss
16.07.2024 19:12 Another Amazon Prime Day has begun, and the sale has brought a handful of decent TV discounts. The highlights include a roughly $250 drop for LG's C3 OLED TV, a suite of deals on Samsung's The Frame TVs and a few all-time lows on lower-cost standouts from Hisense and TCL. Both the Roku Streaming Stick 4K and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max are also on sale for those who need a new streaming dongle. If you're looking to upgrade your living room setup, we've tossed aside the junkier deals and broken down the best Prime Day TV deals we could find below. To be clear, Prime Day isn't the absolute best time to buy a new TV: Most TV makers released their newest sets fairly recently, and the majority of those will be cheaper as we get approach Black Friday. But if you absolutely need to upgrade today, there's still some value to be found. Prime Day itself runs through July 17, and we'll update this post if prices change or more noteworthy deals pop up before then. Remember that you'll need to be a Prime member to access most of the discounts. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. Shop the best Prime Day deals on Yahoo Life. 16.07.2024 19:12 Apple’s 10th-gen iPad just dropped to $299 for Amazon Prime Day, which is a discount of $50. That's the lowest sale price we've seen, and some users are seeing an additional, clippable coupon that can take off another $20 from the sale price. That would bring the tablet down to $279, but just know that the additional coupon seems to be hit or miss for folks. Regardless, $299 is a fantastic deal one one of our top picks for the best iPads. This Prime Day iPad deal is for the bare-bones version of the device with 64GB of internal storage. However, this particular iPad model shines brightest when consuming content and, well, most of that is on the cloud nowadays. Also, this particular model is Wi-Fi only with no cellular service, if that’s a dealbreaker for you. Also: the deal extends to all four colorways. Despite being released back in the ancient days of 2022, the 10th-gen iPad is still a capable machine with an A14 Bionic chip, a 10.9-inch Retina display, two 12MP cameras and a robust battery that should last a full day before requiring a trip to the outlet. It won’t beat the recently-released iPad Air and Pro models, but it’s also a fraction of the price. As a matter of fact, this tablet still has a place on our list of the best iPads. We appreciated the solid battery life, the modern design that recalls its pricer cousins and USB-C charging. At the end of the day, it’s an iPad. It’s great, despite being significantly underpowered when compared to the Pro and Air. To put it another way, this is the tablet to get if your primary use cases are consuming content, surfing the web, playing games and writing emails. This is not the tablet to get if you want to start editing videos. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. Shop the best Prime Day deals on Yahoo Life. 16.07.2024 19:12 OnePlus just held a press event and introduced a trio of new gadgets. There’s an upgraded tablet, new earbuds and a smartwatch. The OnePlus Pad 2 is a refresh of last year’s model, which we mostly enjoyed, so let’s start there. The Pad 2 is an upgrade over the previous iteration in nearly every way. There’s a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a 12.1-inch screen with 3K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The company also promises “stronger audio output” which is always nice, as the primary use for many tablets is consuming content. OnePlus even says that this sound system can emulate spatial audio. This tablet ships with a 9,510mAh battery that can be fully charged in just over 80 minutes and will operate on standby for up to 43 days. Preorders are available now and the tablet costs $550. It’ll be widely available on July 30. OnePlus is also releasing a suite of accessories for the device, including a keyboard and stylus. OnePlus The OnePlus Watch 2R, as the name suggests, is a minor refresh of the just-released Watch 2. It has all of the features of its predecessor, including a maximum battery life of 100 hours, but it's both lighter in weight and cheaper. It’s powered by the latest Wear OS and integrates with the company’s health-monitoring app for fitness tracking. The Watch 2R is available for purchase right now and costs $230. It’s available in both green and gray. OnePlus Finally, there’s the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro. These new earbuds offer improved noise cancellation, up to 49dB, over previous iterations. The buds also have something called Smart Noise Cancellation, which uses an algorithm to automatically reduce unwanted sounds in response to ambient noise. These earbuds include three microphones for calls, a transparency mode and an extra-large 12.4mm audio driver, which OnePlus says allows for deep bass. They are available now and cost $80.This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/oneplus-just-unveiled-a-new-full-sized-tablet-with-some-decent-specs-140023477.html?src=rss
16.07.2024 19:12 One of the questions I get asked the most is: What is the best affordable Android tablet? And while there aren't a lot of one-size-fits-all devices, if you just want a basic slate for shopping or browsing the news that can also double as a great shared device that lives in your living room, thanks to discounts for Amazon Prime Day, the 10.9-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is an unquestionably good deal. At $330, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE is even cheaper on Amazon than it is direct from Samsung, who has it listed for $50 more. But more importantly, while the Tab S9 FE was designed to be a streamlined version of the full-fat Galaxy Tab S9, it retains a lot of the features we like about its more expensive sibling. That includes things like built-in stylus support , a sturdy aluminum chassis and a bright, high refresh rate display. Granted, the FE's 90Hz LCD panel isn't quite as colorful or speedy as the 120Hz OLED screen on the standard Tab S9 and it has a slower Exynos 1380 processor. But when you consider that the FE costs almost one-third the price for Prime Day, those feel like pretty reasonable trade-offs. Furthermore, Samsung's DeX mode gives you a dedicated desktop UI complete with a taskbar and multi-window support at the touch of a button. That means the Tab S9 FE can serve as a great portable productivity machine, especially when paired with one of Samsung's many keyboard accessories. That said, potential buyers should know that one thing the Tab S9 FE doesn't excel at is hardcore gaming. That's because while it's more than speedy enough for casual titles like Stardew Valley or Candy Crush, graphics can become a bit stuttery when playing more demanding shooters like Call of Duty: Mobile. But if all you need is a versatile Android tablet for a good price, getting a Tab S9 FE for just $330 feels like a steal. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. 16.07.2024 19:12 A group of record labels that include Universal, Capitol, Warner and Sony has filed a lawsuit against Verizon, accusing it of "contributory and vicarious copyright infringement." Verizon "knowingly provides its high-speed service to a massive community of online pirates," the companies said in their complaint. Apparently, the plaintiffs have sent the internet provider "hundreds of thousands" of copyright infringement notices over the past few years, identifying subscribers who've been using Verizon's network to share copyrighted music via peer-to-peer file-sharing networks. Verizon, they said, acknowledged that it received their notices. The company allegedly chose to ignore them and continued to provide internet services to "thousands of known repeat infringers so it could continue to collect millions of dollars from them." Since it didn't terminate the accounts of the alleged copyright infringers, Verizon "obtained a direct financial benefit" from their "continuing infringing activity," the plaintiffs argued. The labels are asking for damages worth up to $150,000 for each work infringed. Based on the list posted by Ars Technica, 17,335 titles are involved in the case, which means Verizon could be fined for as much as $2.6 billion. Back in 2018, music labels also sued Cox Communications for allegedly refusing to fully terminate the accounts of users who were pirating music. A US District Court jury originally sided with the labels and ordered Cox to pay $1 billion in damages. But earlier this year, an appeals court overturned the verdict and found that the provider didn't profit directly from its users' activities. A group of record labels also sued Charter Communications in 2021 over over song piracy and similarly accused the company of turning a "blind eye" to music piracy. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/verizon-faces-lawsuit-after-record-labels-say-it-profits-from-piracy-133047303.html?src=rss
16.07.2024 19:12 If you haven't picked up a smartwatch yet, then now is the time. The Apple Watch Series 9 is on sale right now for $280, down from $399 for Amazon Prime Day. As one of many great Prime Day deals out there, the 30 percent discount brings this watch to a new all-time low price. Just keep in mind that it appears to be specifically for the smaller 41mm model. It's our best smartwatch for 2024 so far, though it first became available in September last year. We gave the Apple Watch Series 9 a score of 92 in our review and praised its on-device Siri for having the capability to work offline and even when the wearable isn't connected to a phone. If you don't want to take your phone with you to the gym, for instance, that's no problem: You'll still be able to ask Siri on your watch for health data, like the number of steps you'd already taken. The company also improved its "Raise to Speak" for Siri on Watch 9, so that it can better anticipate your requests and can respond faster without you having to say "Hey Siri" or to press the Digital Crown. Apple introduced the Double Tap gesture with the model, as well, allowing you to answer calls, respond to messages and do other actions simply by tapping your thumb and your index finger together twice. We found that Double Tap does make life easier while you're doing other things but still have one hand free, such as when you're cleaning or reading a book. That said, you may need to practice a bit to get the right tapping cadence, because the watch may not register the gesture if it's too quick or too subtle. In addition, the Watch 9 has some comprehensive and advanced health features, including an ECG capability and an oxygen sensor. It has a sleep tracker that can detect how much time you've spent in REM, Core or Deep sleep, as well. Bottom line is that you can get one of the best smartwatches out there for a price lower that's lower than ever before, and you may want to take this chance while the deal is still ongoing. 16.07.2024 19:12 Google's Pixel Watch 2 has a couple of interesting new features designed to help you manage your stress levels. If they sound like something you'd want to try, you can grab the smartwatch from Amazon at its lowest price yet, thanks to this year's Amazon Prime Day deals. The Pixel Watch 2 WiFi version is currently on sale for $270, $17 lower than its previous all-time low and $80 less than its full retail price of $350. Google designed this model's aluminum case to be lighter than its predecessor's and equipped it with a more powerful, power-efficient processor that should also prolong its battery life. We praised the watch for its design, with its round shiny case, in our review. However, we did note that its crown sticks out more than we'd like, which makes it easy to trigger when you bend your hand backwards. In the health-related features department, Google gave the model a more advanced sensor to track your heart rate that's capable of giving you more accurate readings while exercising. The watch can also notify you to start tracking certain activities, such as walking, running, rowing, outdoor biking and more, so you can have a more complete picture of your physical activities for the day. Pixel Watch 2's new stress and body response sensors work by monitoring the changes in your sweat levels and your heart rate to determine how stressed you are. If the watch does determine that you're stressed, it'll notify you and ask you to log your feelings or to start a walk. The system didn't always work perfectly in our tests, but it's a welcome addition that could be improved in future updates. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. 16.07.2024 19:12 Amazon Prime Day usually advertises a number of discounts on video games and gaming gear, and this year’s event is no exception. Per usual, though, most of those offers aren’t all that good. To help you avoid wasting your cash, we’ve sifted through the sale and picked out the best Prime Day gaming deals that are actually worth your attention below. In general, the selection isn’t as vast as what we’ll see around Black Friday, but we’ve still found lower-than-usual prices on a handful of well-reviewed games for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. There are also some decent deals on gaming mice, headsets, laptops and other accessories we’ve tested and can recommend. As a reminder, Prime Day runs through July 17, and you’ll need to be a Prime member to access most of the discounts. We’ll update this roundup over the course of the sale if prices change or more noteworthy deals pop up. 16.07.2024 19:12 Amazon Prime Day has brought a slew of deals on some of our favorite gadgets, including a top pick of ours for the best smartphone you can get. The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro handsets are down to $499 and $699, respectively, thanks to Prime Day deals. Those are record-low prices for each, with the steepest discount being $300 off the Pixel 8 Pro. Google Pixel smartphones have been some of our favorites for a long time, and if you're an Android loyalist, there are no better phones to get at the moment. In our review, these handsets impressed with their Actua and Super Actua displays, refined design, speedy performance and AI features provided by the new Tensor G3 chipset and improved battery lives. The Pixel 8 is the more compact of the two, with a 6.2-inch touchscreen, and it shares most of the same features with the Pixel 8 Pro. But the latter provides a few extra features including a higher max brightness on its display, a new temperature sensor and configurations with up to 1TB of storage. You'll also get a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 48MP telephoto lens in addition to the 50MP main camera on the Pixel 8 Pro. AI photo features like Best Take and Magic Editor are shared between the two handsets. If you want to get some of the benefits of a Pixel 8 phone without spending quite so much, the good news is that the Pixel 8a midrange handset is also on sale for Prime Day. It's down to a record low of $449, which represents a $50 discount. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. Shop the best Prime Day deals on Yahoo Life. 16.07.2024 19:12 Now that Amazon Prime Day has arrived, it's a good idea to check your charging gear to see if you need to upgrade any old tech or add to your stash. Anker charging gear is on sale as part of the Prime Day deals. All kinds of accessories from power banks to USB-C adapters to wireless chargers are on sale for the shopping event, with many of devices down to record-low prices. Anker sales come and go throughout the year, but these Anker Prime Day deals present a good opportunity to pick up the gear you rely on the most at some of the lowest prices we'll see all year. In addition to some of the best chargers, a bunch of other Anker gadgets have been discounted as well. Key among them are some of our favorite robot vacuums and portable speakers. We've collected the best Anker Prime Day deals below so you don't have to go searching through them. Let's start with power banks, since a number of our top picks for the best power banks are on sale for Prime Day. The Anker Prime Power Bank 200W has dropped to a great sale price for Prime Day, and this model includes its special charging base . It's got a premium design complete with a built-in display that shows how many watts of power are flowing out to each device you're charging, plus the overall charge remaining in the brick itself. The power bank has two USB-C and one USB-A port, and the base includes a few extra connectors as well. Also on sale is our favorite compact battery pack for Android: this 5K power bank has a flip-out USB-C connector that makes it easy to power up Android phones while on the go. For those who feel more secure with a plugged-in charger rather than a magnetic or wireless one, this power bank is a good option. As for standard chargers, there are plenty of solid gadgets to choose from at compelling sale prices. The Anker 313 wireless charging stand is hard to beat in this Prime Day deal if you're just looking for a basic wireless charger at a low price that can reliably power up your phone, be it an iPhone or Android device. While most will put their phone in portrait mode on this stand, it also supports charging in landscape mode as well, in case you want to watch videos while powering up. You can never have too many good AC chargers, and a few of Anker's higher-wattage models have been discounted. This 67W USB-C charger includes two USB-C and one USB-A port, and the AC prongs fold up when you're not using it. For more simultaneous charging, this 150W USB-C adapter includes three USB-C and one USB-A port and can power most mobile devices at fast speeds, including laptops, tablets and smartphones. iPhone users will want to check out the MagSafe options on sale today, which include our top MagSafe pick in our guide to the best power banks. Anker's 10K MagGo power bank is Qi-certified and a big improvement on previous versions thanks to that new certification. In our testing, it brought an iPhone 15 back from near dead to half full in 45 minutes, and its 10,000mAh capacity allows it to still have enough juice left for a decent charge after that. The small display on one edge shows the percentage charge left in the bank and the amount of time left before the power bank itself is refilled when you're charging it. This model also has a strong MagSafe connection, so you won't have to worry about it falling off if you're a little rough with your iPhone while using it. Plus, it has a handy kickstand that lets you more comfortable do things like FaceTime or watch videos while it's working its magic. Other MagSafe options include a couple of multi-device charging stations: this 3-in-1 station can handle an iPhone, Apple Watch and pair of AirPods simultaneously and the fact that it folds down to about the size of a deck of cards makes it an excellent option for frequent travelers. This cube-shaped model is more stationary, but it handles the same three devices at once and it comes with the necessary 30W AC adapter needed for optimal charging speeds. When it comes to robot vacuums, Anker makes a number of relatively affordable options. But our top ultra-budget pick in our best budget robot vacuum guide is a steal at this Prime Day price. The Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S Max did a good job cleaning all floor types in our testing, and it's slim profile allows it to more easy get underneath furniture like side tables and couches — something most other robovacs can't do. The main thing to know about the 11S Max is that it doesn't have Wi-Fi connectivity like our other top picks for the best robot vacuums do. That's not necessarily a bad thing, especially since the 11S Max comes with a remote that lets you do things like change vacuum modes and set cleaning schedules. Two of our top picks for the best portable Bluetooth speakers have dropped in price for Prime Day as well. The Soundcore Motion 300 offers bright, punchy audio in a compact, IPX7-rated design. In addition to support for hi-res audio using the LDAC codec for Android users, this model also works with Anker's Soundcore companion app for EQ customization. As for the Soundcore Motion+, it has bright, bassy output plus Qualcomm aptX support for hi-res audio. It, too, has IPX7 water resistance, and its design is better suited for those who prefer a bit more heft in their speakers. It has a metal front speaker grille plus a soft-touch, rubberized exterior, and you're getting a 3.5mm aux input for wired connections, too. 16.07.2024 19:12 While earbuds are convenient, there's something about over the ear headphones that's just irreplaceable — though they can be quite costly. However, Apple's AirPods Max wireless headphones are currently down to $395 from $549 — a record-low price — and one of many great Prime Day deals. The 28 percent discount is available on all five colorways but doesn't include AppleCare+. Apple released the AirPods Max in 2020 and have yet to produce a next generation model. At the time we gave the headphones an 84 in our review due to a great range of features like solid active noise cancellation and their easy to use controls. We were also impressed with their audio quality which provides a great balanced sound. There were a few aspects of Apple's AirPods Max that we were less impressed with. The price was one of our biggest points of contention, though the sale certainly helps with that. The headphones weigh almost 385 grams, much more than one of our favorites, Sony's WH-1000XM5 headphones — though a wider headband means we barely noticed it. The earbuds were where we had a bigger issue, as we could feel the rings through the foam after just a few minutes. Your Prime Day Shopping Guide: See all of our Prime Day coverage. 16.07.2024 14:52 Amazon Prime Day is finally here and, boy oh boy, the deals overfloweth. Case in point? You can pick up a pair of Google Pixel Buds Pro earbuds for just $120, instead of $200. That’s a discount of $80 and a record-low price for the well-reviewed buds. The Pixel Buds Pro made our list of the best wireless earbuds for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we love the sound. These earbuds offer deep and punchy bass, which is a rarity with this class of device. They also have decent ANC, reliable touch controls and wireless charging. There are also some added convenience features for those already tied to the Android and Pixel ecosystems. In our official review, we called these earbuds the company’s best offering yet. The tap and swipe-based gestural controls work much better than you think they would. These controls are also mirrored on both sides and a long press will switch on ANC, which is ultra-convenient. No earbuds are perfect. The Google Pixel Buds Pro offer a transparency mode, but it needs some work. In fairness, that’s a bit tough to get right with earbuds. Pairing could be quicker, but that’s something of a nitpick. Our main gripe with these earbuds, however, has consistently been the exorbitant price, which has been alleviated by this sale.
