There are many methods to re-enable this, or to tweak other settings but until a configuration utility is created, the ideal way is to modify it in the Xorg configuration. By doing this, each user will have the same settings, it will not be desktop-specific, and will not require setting up additional startup scripts, running synclient, or creating a xorg.conf file. Any setting you would normally do with synclient can be done in the HAL configs as shown in the following example.

Improve Fonts in Fedora

Additional improvements to font rendering can also be applied if you wish to enable a patent encumbered font renderer. The method to do each of these, separately, are outlined below. I suggest doing both to maximize your font appearance! In addition to these font rendering changes, there is also information for adding additional fonts to Fedora in the sections following. Please note that some suggested changes in this document can be very subjective based on individual preferences, hardware used, etc. The Troubleshooting section goes into some more detail in this regard and should be considered before making changes.
