DR Congo: NGO Incidents Overview - March 2024

INSO recorded 132 incidents in March, largely consistent with the previous month. Nevertheless, DRC recorded the highest monthly incident volume recorded by INSO in any country as clashes between government forces, allied OAGs and the M23 persisted around Goma, North Kivu, along with increased levels of criminality targeting civilians across the eastern provinces. In Burkina Faso an aid worker was killed during a robbery, illustrating the growth of violent crime in Ouagadougou. Elsewhere Iraq, Somalia and Syria witnessed a spike in communal and tribal violence linked with political, administrative and resource-based conflicts. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, two Russian attacks damaged NGO premises as INSO recorded the highest monthly total of incidents since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began two years ago as frontline hostilities continue to intensify.
