Insecurity Insight identified at least 269 incidents that took place at or near IDP/refugee camps in seven countries and territories between 01-31 January 2024. Most took place in the occupied Palestinian territories where 169 were documented. Others were reported in Bangladesh, Cameroon, Malawi, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan. Data source: on . AfricaChad16 February 2024: Near Farchana Refugee Camp, Ouaddai province, a nine- year-old boy was killed and two people injured after armed gunmen opened fire on a car. Source: 17 February 2024: In Jamtoli Refugee Camp, Ukhia upazila, Cox's Bazar district, Chittagong division, a 38-year-old Rohingya man was beaten and stabbed to death by four/five unidentified perpetrators in front of his house. Source: Occupied Palestinian Territories Insecurity Insight identified at least 558 incidents that took place at refugee camps in the occupied Palestinian territories between 07 October 2023 and 28 February. In the Gaza Strip, 259 of the reported 357 incidents documented Israeli forces using explosive weapons damaging refugee camps. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem where 201 incidents were recorded, refugee camps were raided by Israeli forces at least 100 times. Syrian Arab RepublicBetween 27 January - 06 February 2024: In Al-Hol Camp, Al-Hasakah governorate, an 11 day security operation was carried out inside the camp by Al-Asayesh security forces searching for ISIS cells inside the camp. During the operation, underground rooms were found underneath the section for migrant women, weapons and ammunition were also discovered inside the camp and suspected ISIS members were arrested. Sources: , and 08 February 2024: In Al-Rukban Camp, Rubkan area, a car was burnt in front of a Free Syria Army-supported bakery by unidentified perpetrators. Syrian regime forces were accused of the incident alleging that the incident attempted to spread chaos and sedition in the camp. Source:
