Democratic Republic of the Congo: North Kivu - Overview of the humanitarian situation

Violence and armed conflicts are the drivers of displacement, generating significant humanitarian needs. People affected by displacement live in precarious conditions both in host families and in collective sites and centers. More than 2.5 millions people live in a displacement site in the province of North-Kivu, representing 37% of the total number of displaced persons in the DRC. Overall, 2.63 million pepople in the province are acutely food insecure. Nearly 48,000 children under 5 suffering from severe acute malnutrition. During 2023, 21 health facilities were attacked, while 607 schools were closed due to armed conflict. The 2024 humanitarian response plan targeted 2.03 million of the 2.63 million people in need
